Time for Change

There comes a time in every persons life that they are forced to take a step back and look at themselves.  Alot of people, myself included, find this very uncomfortable.  Why?  Is it because we don't like what we see?  I would say often that is the case with me.  We go along in life, just cruising, not paying attention to where we're going or how we are going to get there... until we make a mistake.  All of a sudden, we are stuck judging ourselves.  Regretting something is one thing, but not repeating the same mistake again can be quite a challenge.  It can be very painful to realize you're just not who you thought you were, or that people aren't seeing the same person as you are when you look in the mirror everyday.

What do these feelings call for?  That's right, change.  It's the only thing that will right your wrongs and put you on the proper path - change.  Equally as awkward as self realization, change is something that is necessary in life.  So how is it done?  In the words of the great Maya Angelou: "If you don't like something, change it.  If you can't change it then change your attitude".  Sound easy?  In my experience, it has been the hardest obstacle I have dealt with.  Perhaps it's because I am stubborn and I don't like to be told what to do, even by myself.  Maybe it's because I ignore my problems until they slap me in the face.  Whatever the reason, no more excuses, it's time for change.

Saying that I have a Peter Pan complex is an understatement.  It's true, I don't want to grow up.  My lifestyle is filled with activities that college students enjoy on a daily basis.  I have had a 'few' times where I have been less than proud of my behavior while drinking.  And let's just face it, I have GOT to stop smoking cigarettes!  I could fill this page with all of the things I want to accomplish in my life, but really none of those things will ever happen if I don't just buckle down and grow up!

There is one solution - change.  It's time to stop twiddling my fingers and waiting for my life to change itself.  I need to consciously be making the right decisions and gain a little self control over my bad habits.  Determination will come in handy here if you have some to spare!

I wish everyone luck with their goals this year!  May we all come out ahead!
Until then, cheers!

There's a first time for everything!

Ahhhh, my very first post.  Let me start off by saying that I am completely uncomfortable writing, especially about my thoughts and my everyday life.  Could that possibly be why I started this blog months, okay, maybe over a year ago and still have yet to write my first post?  At least until today, yes.  I am forcing myself to do this so I can improve my writing skills.  So here we go.....

I don't want to start out by giving you my life story, if you are reading this (God Bless You) then you probably already know me.  I will start instead, by telling you what is going on in my life, right now.

My husband and I Michael run CK Comics & Collectibles, a wonderful eclectic little store in Manitou Springs, CO.  Although going into I knew nothing, I am learning more and more about comic books and the 'nerd' lifestyle every day.  Michael has tried many times to get me into gaming, and has failed.  I do however like table top games (NOT D&D!) like Catan and Risk, I just wish we could play more.   It is an endless world of learning - I feel like I should be attending classes!

I love graphic design and marketing and advertising, that's my job and my passion!  I also love food so doing the marketing for two of the best restaurants in Manitou Springs is pretty cush!  Michael and I are currently working on the business plan for our new company, Manitou Marketing Maniacs - doing what we love for all the merchants we love in Manitou Springs!  We can't wait!

That's all for now - I feel like I got my feet just wet enough to start writing regular posts!

I will be picking a topic for all of my upcoming posts - stay tuned!
